My father, Pfc. William W. Taylor Jr. served in the 100th. Infantry Division, 399th. Regiment, Co. A. His Division saw duty in France and Germany spending 185 consecutive days on the battle line. He wrote nearly 300 letters home chronicling his service to our country. Like so many combat veterans of the War he spoke little of his experiences, but these letters tell the story.
He wrote a letter home and this was all?
ReplyDeleteThat's all. I haven't the foggiest idea what Bill is talking about. The letter was written later in the day on Feb. 20, 1944. I have added the notation (Later) which is on the original letter. It is in a seperate envelope with #73 noted on it in "Mudders" hand. I included it to keep the sequence correct. It is noted "FREE" on the envelope, so at least Bill didn't have to pay postage.
